Grab your tissues—Kate Cassidy just gave her first interview since Liam Payne’s heartbreaking passing, and it’s absolutely gut-wrenching.

Nearly four months after Liam’s tragic death in October 2024, Cassidy sat down with The Sun on Feb. 5 to open up about their final days together, her grief, and how she’s been coping.

“It Still Doesn’t Feel Real”

Liam’s sudden passing shook the world when TMZ reported that he had fallen from his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. For Cassidy, the pain is still raw. “It still doesn’t feel fully real for me that he’s not here,” she admitted, echoing the heartbreak so many fans still feel.

She revealed that nights are the hardest—“It’s quiet and dark and alone”—but she’s been seeing a grief counselor and going to therapy to help navigate the loss. Even with that, she confessed, “Every day is a sad day for me.”

The Moment She Got the Call

Cassidy had flown back to Miami just four days before Liam’s passing to take care of some responsibilities, including looking after their rescue dog, Nala. They had planned for a short trip, but when it extended, she never imagined it would be the last time she’d see him.

She described the exact moment she found out: “I was in our home alone, scrolling TikTok, when I got a phone call from one of Liam’s friends.” At first, she didn’t believe it—thinking it was just another internet rumor—until a terrible gut feeling hit her. “I blacked out. I felt numb. I couldn’t believe it.”

She frantically tried calling Liam and everyone in their circle, but when the truth finally sank in, she broke down on the couch with her mom, realizing: “I’m never going to see him again.”

Her Last Text to Liam

Before he passed, Cassidy had been decorating their house for Halloween, excited for Liam to come home. Her last message to him? “I can’t wait for you to get home and for you, me, and Nala to be a family again. I can’t wait for you to see the house.” 😞

Saying Goodbye

On Nov. 20, 2024, a month after Liam’s passing, Cassidy attended his funeral alongside her mom and close friends. She reflected on how much love surrounded her that day, sharing that she stood by Liam “through thick and thin” because she truly believed in their love.

“I think love is so optimistic, and you just hope that everything will work out,” she said.

Absolutely devastating. 💔
